I suppose a pink cast could be a problem when using the Ilford Multigrade
filter system???
Some films tend to "pink" more than others. Especially black and white
colour film (monochrome colour film like XP2) gets pink, as far as I
remember.

The purple tint to the film suggests that it never saw any developer at all,
either before OR after fixing. The anti-halation backing of films is
cleared in the developer, and some developers clear it better than others.
Sometimes you get a slight purple or pink tint even when processing has been
successful, in which case a brief rinse in fresh developer will clear it
away (followed by normal washing of course).
