I've read his review and don't have any real problem with it accept that he
does not recommend the camera to anyone who does not already have an investment
in Pentax glass. This is shortsighted. He is obviously of the mindset that
big, fast, gadget-laden cameras are the way to go. I don't agree with that
assumption at all. There is a large group of photographers who want smallish
cameras that have all the necesary features to capture images without all the
extras
that often get in the way. There are also a group of us who love the idea
that we can use older manual focus lenses on the latest digital cameras. Pentax
does an excellent job of offering this to its users, probably a better job than
Nikon and Canon. If this is what you are looking for, than the Ist D and DS
are excellent choices.
Of course these statements require a little working knowledge of the various
camera systems, especially Pentax. This guy could not be bothered to do any
real research. That's what bothers me about his site and his comments. He is a
lazy writer who does not do enough homework before he begins to write. As a
result, his "reviews" of such cameras are almost useless to anyone who has
bothered to already read the brochures. They are dangerous for people who don't
read
the reviews and take his writings as gospel - they will likely end up buying
a camera system that is not suitable to them.
Just my 2 cents worth
