Hi Rob, It's shot at ISO 800, and it's a pretty extreme crop. Probably about 1/3 of the frame. The exposure was That explains the grain. There are no burgundy flecs on my monitor, at least not at the size it's displayed. In looking at the tiff at high magnification, I can see that the shadow areas of the tree bark have a burgundy tint, but no flecks. Of course, the web version is a low-res version of the shot. If you blow it up bigger than 100% it will start to fall apart. I took a look at the metadata. It was 5.6 @ 1/500, and it was about one stop underexposed.
