The DS seems a very nicely balanced package overall, most of
what I've heard as "flaws" are nitpicks or feature omissions
that a niche of users might find usable, like the "hyperprogram"
control, the PC sync terminal, the 'wireless flash without an
external flash unit' capability, or the ability to fit a battery
grip with portrait oriented controls. I don't find any of these
omissions insurmountable, indeed would rarely if ever use them.

The only thing on the *istDS that I wish they'd provided was a
way to turn on Continuous-AF without going to Sports scene mode.
Even this is relatively low priority for me as I only rarely use
it, but it would be handy now and then. A more useful thing
would be an settings option to use the built-in flash for focus
assist without it being used for the exposure. Faster write
times and more exposures in the capture buffer would be a plus
too.

I'm not saing the *istDS is perfect, but it's a nicely balanced
package of capabilities and hard to pick too many flaws that
aren't just indicative of its price level.
