There is a test of the FA24-90 in the current June edition of German "Foto
Magazin". They say that the lens is very good ("sehr gut") but not "super".
Optics are rated 8.4/10, mechanics 8.6/10. Performance in the centre of the
image and wide open is said to be good to very good. Stopped down it is said to
be very good to superb. At the edge of the image performance is less good, as
one would expect. At 90mm and wide open the f number is said to be 0.8 stops
slower than 4.5. There is said to be some barrel distortion at 24mm.

Compare to the competition (tested in earlier editions):

Lens Optics Mechnics Price (DM)
Canon 24-85/f3.5-4.5 8.4 9.0 950
Minolta 24-105/f3.5-4.5 9.2 9.2 1000
Nikkor 24-85/f2.8-4 8.8 9.2 1500
Nikkor 24-120/3.5-5.6 9.2 8.4 1460
Zeiss 24-85/3.5-4.5 9.4 9.4 3500

Of course all these tests may have no significance at all.
