While Rob's already commented about ease of focus, I'll add that I've seen some pretty darn soft images from this lens when used wide open - so if you're desperate for the look, open it up wide (-:

The Zenitar 16/2.8 is pretty darn cheap, about $100 US (just in case you weren't already aware of it).
