There were a few of us with seperated elements in the 28-70/4.
By Pentax's silence I assume these elements are not available.
This would be a good solution for someone, I'm out of bucks right
now so it won't be me.
I would suggest though that someone use their seperated lens as
a donor for a front element for this one.
It's MUCH easier to change.

Quoting Scott Nelson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

Pentax SMC FA 28-70 f/4. Has a small scratch on the front element (3mm
long, width of a hair). Hard to say what this one is worth because of
the scratch, so make me an offer.

Wasn't somebody around here looking for a donor *rear* element for one of
these?
Sounds like a match ...

ERNR
who already has one of these and is just interferin'

I've heard about the seperated element issue - which group is it that has the seperation issue, the front or the back. Personally, I'm not concerned about the scratch because it's too small to affect image quality, even at f/16. I'm not selling the lens because of the scratch, but rather because I want a zoom with a little more range on the long end. Other than that, it's a very fine lens.
