Jena was the original location for Carl Zeiss. After WWII it found itself located in the GDR. Many engineers etc. fled to Western Germnay to start a new Carl Zeiss company. The GDR factory continued making lenses for Praktica, Pentacon, Exakta and many other cameras etc. in the GDR and USSR realated products. Today, I beleive, ther's only one Carls Zeiss company. I guess the whole story can be examined here: http://www.company7.com/zeiss/history.html
Jens Bladt mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://hjem.get2net.dk/bladt -----Oprindelig meddelelse----- Fra: Derby Chang [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sendt: 19. februar 2005 12:34 Til: Pentax Discuss Emne: KA mount Carl Zeiss Jena lenses Looking that the Rebel XT pictures, I've noticed that blue on black now seems in fashion for DSLRs, and tangentially it reminded me of the colour scheme for a Carl Zeiss Jena lens I have in KA mount. A 24mm/f2.8 which isn't really the best performer (not really sharp till f5.6, and lots of vignetting). What is the history of these lenses? Are they rebadged? Rather plasticky, and the focusing is a little rough but I'm rather fond of it. D -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~derbyc
