It runs the gamut from full manual to full program. If you set the aperture (off A), and leave shutter on Auto, you get Aperture priority. If you then set the shutter (by means of the two little buttons), you get full manual. If you then put the aperture on A you get shutter priority, and if you turn the shutter back to Auto you have full program.

It's very simple, though some people don't like the buttons to set shutter speed.
