Hi John:

Neither would I.

Air travel is a problem for me, especially with the 11x14 camera and associated gear.

If the insurance company can prove that you use your equipment professionally, then they don't have to pay you under your homeowners policy.

I hope that we're not beginning an argument.

I'd never rely on the fact that my equipment list was unpublished
as an alternative to insurance.

My equipment goes in checked baggage when I travel by air, and
exceeds the value hotels are prepared to accept responsibilty
for. That's way, way more of a risk than anything else I do.

Plus, of course, the fact that I work from home (and that the
American courts seem to prepared to grant a homeowner quite a
lot of leeway when it comes to protecting personal property)
might reduce the desirability of selecting me as a target.

Jim Hemenway mused:

Point taken, John... you might want to check to see if your camera insurance is up to date anyway. :-)
