I think on luminous landscape there was a not bad (somewhat
surprisingly) review of MF backs, including some info on the sensors
and comparisons with EOS system.
Also it's not only the sensor but mostly the electronics which can be
improved. Especially in CCDs where most of the processing
conversion is done elsewhere than the sensor, if I understand it
right.
So a same sensor with better electronics can be a lot different.
