There is a similar "negligence" when sending the same information to a stranger via email, don't you think? The point that some have made is that there's nothing anyone can do with your bank account info, or that it's "almost perfectly safe" to give the info out. If it is so safe, why not post it here? Because you KNOW it's not that safe, and what you're counting on is that the single person to which you've given the info, such as Mark's eBay buyer, is going to be honest and will be looking out for your interests as well as his or hers. Just casting it out there, such as posting it on a mailing list, increases your chances that someone dishonest will get the information, but sending it to one person does not negate the chance that she or he will be dishonest.
