In case any Maryland PDMLers fancy a bit of music and have free time tomorrow ...
Tomorrow, Sunday, 20 March, at 3:00 PM, I'll be performing with a recorder ensemble at First Unitarian Church in Baltimore, MD. The church web site lists this as an early music concert, but in addition to the several early music pieces, the program also includes works by Alessandro Scarlatti, George M. Cohan, Eubie Blake, and John Bratton, and English and Irish folk tunes. So if you're within reasonable driving distance and have that spot in your schedule open, come on up to Baltimore for some music. For any of you who've seen me play with The Homespun Ceilidh Band, this is a lot mellower than that. I won't be leaping about the stage (and I'll be playing bass recorder instead of guitar). The Scarlatti piece is a sonata arranged for four bass recorders (we'll have at least five, possibly seven or eight basses playing it tomorrow, last I heard). The show won't be as photographically interesting as a rock concert or fire eaters, but you could shoot a study of the different variations on recorder design (I'm desperately trying to squeeze in _something_ photo-related here, other than the fact that a PDMLer and an ex-PDMLer are performing). I happen to think crook-neck tenor recorders are visually interesting ... The church is located at 1 W. Hamilton St., in the Mount Vernon neighbourhood of Baltimore, and the church web site links to this map: <http://tinyurl.com/6z9u8> (And the church web site, in case you're interested: <http://www.firstunitarian.net/>.) -- Glenn
