I don't rely on the electronic focus confirmation with manual focus. I find it's not always as accurate as is the visual selection of a finite focus point. However, I do use the multi-point focus selection when using autofocus with autofocus lenses. I've become fairly adept at moving the red dot from one point to another with the little joystick button.

No, all Pentax lenses focus rings rotate the same direction to achieve focus.
On the other point I don't use multi-point focus in any case, I've not found it
useful at all.
