The spotting scope solution seems to be quite popular here in the UK (Digiscoping) but I've not been tempted myself, yet! There are times when I need a 600mm lens and use a 300 f/4 with 2x EX converter, I'd love a 600mm f/4 but I think that's as far as I'm prepared to go, although I have looked at the Sigma 800mm f/5.6. I could never justify spending more than that due to the limited use I would give it. John
