That doesn't sound like you. Are you sure you're still you? I agree that many of us mostly rely on anecdotal evidence regarding lens quality, whether first or second hand. Still scientifically conducted tests, on a large variety of samples of the same lens, would produce some definitlive, measureable results, no?

Whether you think it's foolish to perform tests like this or not wouldn't make
it suite my needs any better, its as simple as that. I don't own the lens in
question and I wouldn't now as I'm convinced of what to expect from it given
the sample images that the good folks here have provided since its release.
