Of course the news organization plays a similar part and the same question applies to them.


The one difference is that everyone realizes the viewfinder/lens itself limits what can be shown in a single shot and therefore people intuitively know there's more than meets the eye when shown a photograph.


On the other hand, people in general expect to be told the *whole* truth (as far as known) when it comes to news reporting.
