The camera had a 300mm lens, and a 1.4 converter on it.
Thats around 7.5 pounds, most of it hanging off the front.
He was using a "light weight Gitzo 1228 carbon fiber hiking tripod with an Acratech ball head".
The tripod and head probably weigh less than the camera and lens attached.
While the tripod is rated to 16 pounds, it also has 4 leg sections, and is balancing a very front heavy load.
A little common sense goes a long way.
The 6x7 on a heavier tripod has no vibration issues.
