Kevin The best way to get items from the US to Australia is via the US Postal service not UPS or any other courier. I just did a quick check on the USPS site (www.usps.com) and for a 40 pound package air freight it's US$173. For surface it's US$68.40. This allows for a package upto 84 inches - Length plus girth (distance around the thickest part). I'm not sure what the auto poles are, but I'm sure they should fit into those dimensions and weight.
