To answer your questions:

I don't know about US warranties overseas. I suspect that there is an International warranty for a reason.

The FA 50mm f/1.4 is fantastic on the *ist-D/s. It's bright, sharp, compact, and a pleasure to use. Results can be beautiful. It's a good portrait focal length.

The DA 18-55's focus ring feels pretty good; better than many FA lenses, actually. And the AF/MF shift for touch-up is really a nice feature.

The DA lenses are pretty new still. You would have to ask Stan, but it's probable that he hasn't gotten to them yet.

I've had overexposure problems with all of my lenses using the built-in flash (I think I need to have my *ist-DS serviced). That flash is PTTL. But my TTL flash (AF330FTZ) works flawlessly on my *ist-DS, regardless of the lens.

I read on the muanaul of the Ds that TTL can under or over exposure
with bright lenses.
Anyone ran into such problems?
