Hi Mark, Can't say that I'm surprised, and you don't seem to be either. Good thing that they were not important pics. I'm sure you'll figure out the problem, but more important is to make sure that the work flow and gear that you're using will minimize the chance of this happening again.
Of course, we all have such accidents. Just the other day I shot a roll of film that had already been exposed and ended up with a roll of double exposures <sigh>. So, such goofs and problems happen regardless of the medium ... if that's any consolation.
