Perhaps one should also consider the difference in sensor mask. Each company uses a different mask for moire control. A local camera shop make a clear statement to me that every series of Canon produces a different image characteristic.

I notice in many reviews of Canon DSLR's, the images are described as ultra smooth or silky-smooth.
Is that just bull honkey or what? Seriously asking the question. Those words describe the way my wife's skin or hair should feel after using the newest product on the market, not the way a digital image looks.
