I'm pretty sure that the PZ/Z-1p and PZ/Z-1 have rigid metal frames,
probably the other models in the PZ/P series as well. Pentax has built a
number of cameras using this method.

I don't know about that, I have never seen any picture indicates MZ-S has
the metal
frame like D/DS. I think D is the first Pentax body with such design. There is
no
practical difference whether to use metal or plastic mount if it was fastened
onto a
plastic structure. MZ-S carries this design (so to all other MZ/ZX). No doubt
the
mount will not be able to withstand the same stress as metal structure do, just
that
we don't know how much difference. But of course, being unable to handle the
same
amount of stress on the camera mount doesn't make the body itself less durable.
Just
that the mount itself will be a weak link.
