My brother roasts his own, and I love sampling the different blends available at the small roasting companies near me (there are four). I haven't yet jumped over the fence to the true fanaticism of the home roaster.

I did, and I'm not going back. It appeals to my overclocking sensibility to abuse a hot-air popcorn popper to roast coffee, my affinity to good coffee for espresso and regular coffee, and my cheapness gene to do it all for less than a "good" cup of regular (starbucks-equivalent).
