not if $500 is too expensive. even then, they all still suffer from color shifts with changes in angle of view and less brightness range than a good CRT. i had a chance to play around with the IBM T221 LCD monitor for a few minutes. it's a high end monitor for engineering, medical imaging, and the like with very a high native resolution of 3840x2400. even it's not that great compared to a good CRT, at least when it comes to color reproduction.
