... On other side it was shot on 15-20 years old film (ORWO NP15) that is very contrast.

Interesting -- and I understand about compromise, you did well, I
think.

How did you determine exposure? The camera meter? Center/spot,
adjust EV, etc?

Also, I notice you shoot with a MZ-M -- do you like it?

About MZ-M, yes I like it. It's light, ergonomic and controls are straightforward. It is not autofocus body but for the fotography I am making autofocus is not so important. With KA,KA2 lenses it has matrix light metering (2 segment), with older lenses it has center weighted metering. It has +-3EV compensation (in 1/2 steps) but I rarely use it because most of the time I am shooting in manual mode. It is marketed by Pentax as student's camera - it lacks a lot of features of the more advanced bodies like diopter correction but I like it.

About light metering, yes I use the camera light meter (2 segment) and make the compensation manualy - if I take dark image I underexpose, if I take a bright image I overexpose one or two steps. If the contrast of the scene is big, I metter the bright spot with the center of the viewfinder and then the dark spot, so I could adjust the exposure somewhere between the two extremes. Most of the time, I first adjust the apperture for the desired depth of field and then I am scrolling the shutter speeds. In meantime I am reading the light-meter data and the current shutter speed in the viewfinder. Sometimes I have to correct again the apperture because most of the time I am taking pictures without tripod so I have to take care with the focal lenght/sutter speed ratio.

That's it.

ciao & good luck
