Sure, focus is important.  But, sometimes, a photo is worth showing
even if the focus is missed.  Sometimes other characteristics of a
photo are such that a deficit of technical prowess is overcome or at
least compensated by (for instance) emotional impact.

If I had a choice ot showing a photo that was technically perfect, but
had nothing to say, or a photo with glaring technical errors but that
I thought communicated something important, guess which one I'd show?

All that being said, my "sharpness is an over-rated concept" thing was
pretty much a joke.  I didn't think I needed the smiley.
