Cotty,

There's a revision of my shot at:
http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=3385087

I like to include a foreground plane in a picture, as I believe it enhances
the illusion of depth.

OTOH, I admire the ability of professional news-gatherers to distil a scene
into its essence, getting bold and graphic compositions in the process.
Your cropping suggestion works for me. In fact I took lots of frames on the
day, and some were without the nearer chains, but this was the combination
of businessman and swimmer (or without swimmer) that I liked best.

The revision also includes other suggestions, not only yours. I'm not sure
that the other suggestions work for me, but yours does.

regards,
Anthony Farr
