The lens being reviewed is the Tamron SP AF 28-105 f 2.8 LD Aspherical
IF. Its front element takes an 82mm filter. I'm sure it's not
lightweight. If you can tolerate f/3.2-4.5, there is also the SMC
Pentax-FA 28-105mm f/3.2-4.5 AL IF. It sells for around $200 new, and
is probably a small fraction of the weight and size of the Tamron f/2.8.
