The Sigma EF-500 DG Super is outstanding with the ist-D. It's about
$200.00. I haven't tried the less expensive Sigma flash, the EF-500 DG
ST but I think it's just slightly lower powered and without some of the
advanced features like wireless flash.
I was just looking into those and I think they're the same power.
What appears to be missing on the ST is the wireless like you say, rear
curtain flash, and the wide range of manual power settings.
