Hi Shel. Was that New York National Drag Strip in Center Moriches where you 
raced in the sixties? That track was just about ten miles from Westhampton. 
Although I think I remember that there was once another track way out there on 
the island. In fact, it was called Island Dragway if I remember correctly. When 
I worked as a funny car crewchief in the early seventies, we raced at New York 
National once a month in the summer. We made our best pass there with our '71 
Dodge Charger, "Qu Voe Charger." It was 6.51 at 225. The piston we burned on 
that run is sitting on my desk. That engine used a stock Dodge hemi steel 
block, stock hemi crankshaft,  and stock steel cylinder head castings. Of 
course nothing else in it was stock. It ran on 96% nitro with 50 pounds or so 
of supercharger boost. Noisy :-).
