The aperture question now seems more of a mystery.

Don't the Ricohs have this P setting? Have you mounted it on a Pentax body and if not, were you very wise or extremely wise not to? :-)

Kostas (I seem to recall there is a slight mount incompatibility; Ricohs mount Pentax, but not vice-versa for late Ricohs).

I've got the same lens (Gen3 is the Komine, no?). I don't have it here in front of me, but I do know that many of the Vivitar lenses were Ricoh-friendly. They had different permutations of P/K-R, PKA/PKR, etc, etc. Basically, A and P are interchangeable, from what I see.

Now, with the Ricoh compatibility, the extra pin *is* present on these lenses... that's the one that can fall into the AF hole on a bone-fide Pentax camera and jam the lens on. On my VS1, rotating the aperture off the 'A' (or 'P'... don't remember) will retract the Ricoh pin as well as the 'A' pin for the Pentax mount. On a different Ricoh-compatible lens I had, it didn't retract so I had to remove it. Not a big deal to disassemble the lens. I also had to perform a "flange-ectomy" on it to allow it to fit.
