Read my first word: "IF". I never stated this was actually the case. I was just trying to make the point that I would not pay signifigant amount of money just for better build quality DSLR ( as I WOULD in the past for a film SLR). JCO

The point is that the rebels, Ds and D70 are all of the same build quality AND price range. Your argument is based on ridiculous hypotheticals. You want the features? Then you're paying more AND getting a better built camera. That's the WHOLE idea of offering lower models, mid-range models and top models. Why would a camera company (even one as stupid as Pentax) offer a low feature set body with super high build quality? The original comment was that the *ist D was better built than a Rebel but they are not in the same category so the price difference does not matter if you want the higher feature set of the D.
