I'm probably the last person on the planet to discover this, but in case
I'm not, here's how I came across making contact sheets of negs using a
flatbed A4 scanner.

I tried it just laying the sheet of negs on the flatbed, but it was so
dark as to be useless. I then removed the flatbed's cover, and on top of
the neg sheet (which are on top of the scanner's glass) I carefully
placed an upturned lightbox, switching it on at the last moment (to avoid
excessive heat, which I don't think is a problem). Once scanned, in
Photoshop it is a simple case of inverting the image to reveal them as
positives, a bit of contrast correction and hey presto - fine contact
sheets. My only problem is my lightbox isn't big enough to cover a 7-neg
sheet of strips 6 frames long :-(

Does anyone else do this? And if so, have you any tips?

Cheers,

Cotty
