OK, sorry for the harsher reply before :) I do realise that the planar
surface can change the light path, especially in superwide lenses.
That is, in all my shooting situations, I haven't encountered a single
problem when it added to the aberrations, even with 12mm lens. OTOH I
can imagine that with some lenses, it could. But I haven't seen a
single one. Anyway, most photographs are bad enough art that the issue
doesn't matter to me - when my photograph is good enough photograph
some small quality loss doesn't matter to me. And most amateurs are
today just nitpicking over quality of the technical side, not quality
of the photograph :)
