I thought this once too. Turned out that the fellow was using a skylight
filter like a UV filter. Easily recognizable color shifts are almost always
from a source other than the lens. Another common source of color shift is
processing. If you desire the best consistency in your slides, take them to
a professional service. Another is subtle differences in exposure.
