There are much beter way of abandoning a mount a screwing it up. Look at Nikon. Always the same mount on a mecanical POV. But every couple of years like 7-8 years they make a new version which is incompatible is some way with previous one.
Except pro cameras, you don't get even something looking like a working meter with these. A shame, really. Even their flash system always changes. Maybe Pentax is late with features but you can use their old lenses as well as their old flashes. I'd really like what other brand lets you use old Analog TTL flash on DSLR and still benefit from TTL... I don't think Pentax will abandon whatever. But they try to earn a dollar more on each lens.
