Breaking news: she won't be at home. She'll be travelling and staying in unfamiliar surroundings. In this instance, IMO the sound is acceptable. Or she can go buy a set of powered speakers for twenty quid. Or rummage behind the stereo and find the auxiliary audio-in and then rummage about in PC World or Dixons for a cable with a 3.5mm mini-jack on one end and RCA style phone plugs on the other.
