Tell her to get one of these and use the house stereo / radio tuner. I have one and it works pretty good, and can be used with any radio in the house or car. Not available in the UK as they contravene UK regs, but it
only has a transmitting area of about 30 feet so it's unlikely to
interfere with the neighbours ;-)

Amazon has them for about 30 bucks.

Guess it's worth pointing out that they contravene UK regs in the "it's breaking the law to use them" sense. The chances of being caught are miniscule, but it may be an issue, I guess.

I didn't know anything about UK regulations... brought my iPod and iTrip FM transmitter with me to the UK in 2003. Worked like a charm in the rental car and at my friends' home on the Isle of Man.

Of course, all she needs is a standard 1/8" stereo mini-jack cable to whatever auxiliary line input the stereo system in the house has. Most have RCA plug inputs, some have stereo-mini plugs, some have 1/4" stereo jacks .. but it only takes a minute to look at the boom box and find out. Any electronics or boom-box store should have the cable required. I use one of these cables with my iPod and my living room stereo system as I don't have an FM tuner.
