The power drain is pretty minimal while you're carrying the camera, a set of batteries can last months as long as you put the cap on when the camera isn't hanging on you shoulder or sitting in a ready state. You're not powering a bunch of LED's just a little match needle. I had a SP 1000 for about 10 years and used it a lot. I think I changed the battery twice. That is unless the camera is in your hand 24/7, even then the battery should last a fairly long time. Hell my F still has a mercury cell in it, when was the last time those were commonly available in the US. (I don't remember, it's been a long time...)

cap on. This activity would not suit a K1000 without unnecessary drain on
