I felt the same until I forced myself to work with them a lot. TMax and Delta films can do better than PX, TX on both grain and tonality but the chemistry and processing required are different. Pan F is good, but never as good as APX25 was from what I've seen. But there isn't much choice left in fine-grained film, slow speed film emulsions now.
