Shel,

It was just a jpeg, I'm not shooting RAW yet. I wanted to get some
jpeg experience before trying it, and I just finished the instruction
manual last night. I'm still learning about the burnt out highlights.
(You should see the 1st try...)

The istDs is a joy. I put the FA50/1.4 on it and snapped away. I had
400 jegs on the 1 gig card. No film cost, just shoot and see if you
like the results! Downloads are fast with the USB2 interface and Bill
Owen's suggestion of Photoshop Elements 3.0 has me looking at an album
of 650 or so jpegs right now, with RAW capabilities later (as per John
Francis).

All my A lenses work and the A20/2.8 seems just dandy as a wide angle.
 The A400/5.6 becomes a 600! (I know Bill...) I enabled the K lenses
on the camera last night and will try some of them soon as I learn the
'green button' thing.

Multiple photos have not been any problem for me shooting jpegs. I
can run off a burst of 2 or 3 or 4 with no problems. In fact, I've
set the camera for continuous shooting all the time. It really helped
shooting a Mom swallow feeding her chicks. (As a film shooter, you
learn to get you finger off the trigger quickly.) I haven't seen any
buffer problems here. It's not much of an issue for me.

Overall, I'm more pleased with the results than I thought I would be.
The resolution is better than I expected. The ease and convenience of
use is better than I expected. The ability to shoot and experiment
with shots is great.

It's time to turn in the old Sony S85 Shel. No more frustrating
shutter lag! Better resolution and picture quality. You can use all
that old Pentax glass you have in hand. And it's instant
gratification when you get back to your computer...no more waiting for
the photo processor. The price of a istDs is under $600 at
buydig.com.

Regards, Bob S.
