Well, there's always the option of doing some close-up photography in the Pygmy Forest near Little River, outside of Mendocino. Also, on the road to the coast near Philo, on Highway 128, if you time your shots right and choose your location well, there are some good possibilities that can be had with the 135mm lens - winding road through towering redwoods kind of stuff. But overall, in that area, you're pretty much correct.
