So, (adopts humble posture) I've decided that I do want to learn how to use my *stD 'properly' - while there is still a camera available that actually allows users to interfere with the delicate controls.
Oh, I suspect there'll be cameras to satisfy that desire for a long time to come. Enjoy the D, though, and enjoy learning through this pleasant madness.
