I've been wondering about the same, Bill. Haven't really pursued the matter, but I suspect that there must be some software designed for astrophoto that can do it.

I was wondering (I will have to try it at some point) if a person took a dark field exposure and inverted it in Photoshop, one would then have a white field with dark spots. If that could then be overlayed onto the noisy image, it should reduce the hot pixels quite nicely, since they tend to be in the same place all the time anyway.

Just a random thought.
