I'd guess a "competitive price" for a FF camera would be around $3000-$4000 USD. If Canon made a stripped down FF camera, eliminating the weather sealing and other features made for professional (ab)use - building a 1Ds-like camera to 10D standards, in other words - they might be able to do it for that price. Probably using the old 11 megapixel sensor. If they did it for $4000 (the price of the Nikon D2x) they'd really hurt Nikon badly. If they did it for $3000 I'd sell all my Pentax gear except for the ist-D, and Limited lenses and add a Canon system to my arsenal (I'd still want the Pentax for some applications because the Canon would surely be enormous and heavy). -- Mark Roberts Photography and writing www.robertstech.com
