last quarter, Pentax shipped 20K DSLR bodies. presumably most of them were sold since Pentax ships direct from the factory to most of their large retailers and not through their local distributors as they used to. they started doing this in 2003 with FedEx as their main carrier.

They will always be in a costly developing schedule of coming DSLR's. It's not going to get any easier. I don't think the camera bodies will ever make them any money. They're too costly to develop and manufacture, they go out of date too quickly and they can't move enough units to recover their costs.
