My favourite gallery here in Toronto, the Stephen Bulger Gallery, is
currently showing an Andre Kertesz exhibit. Apparently it includes
several contact sheets, along with many photos. I hope to get into
see it on Saturday (full report to follow).

In preparation of this exciting event, I had a few minutes to kill
today, so I entered a bookstore to see if I could look through one or
two photo collections of his, and I was successful.

Of course, this only whetted my appetite to see his works in a proper
setting even more. But, during my perusals today, I came across the
following quote of his. If it starts a discussion here, I think that
would be great:

"I am an amateur, and I intend to remain an amateur for the rest of
my life. The photograph gets its beauty from the very truth with which
it is stamped. This is why I guard myself against any kind of
professional trickery or virtuosity..."

Beautiful, eh?

cheers,
frank
