What do you guys here think about the FA28/2.8 on the istD? How much
does this lens usually go for?

I have an M28/3.5 and a K30/2.8, but would like to get the FA because
it will be faster to use on the street. Would it be wise to swap one
of my two lenses for it?

I spent a lot of my picture taking time on the UK trip using the A24/2.8 and found I wanted a lens in that focal length range that was AF too. Didn't like the FA24/2, I debated and debated between the FA28/2.8 and FA35/2. Both have people who commented both good and bad about them when I queried. Then someone said to look into the FA20-35/4. I decided to go for that instead, and I'm completely satisfied with it.

It's not overly bulky, has a nice feel to its manual focus, works on both film and digital bodies nicely. For the DS, I replaced the somewhat overly bulky Pentax lens hood with a standard Kalt 58mm screw in hood: it's nice and tidy now. Although it gives up a stop in speed and is a bit bulkier than the FA28, it's light and performs very well.

Might not be the best choice for you, but I'd certainly take a look at one. I haven't had the opportunity to comparison test it against the FA28 (or 35) directly yet.
