I thought Pentax was a holding company and the actual consolidated number of employees is over 5,000 (still not large, but Pentax have never been a large company). Pentax USA alone has over 400 employees. Reshuffling of 300 was global. Lay off by KM was one digit larger and Oly top it off with yet additional digit. Besides, Pentax now has many JV's, for example, a commercial image management and solution company with Sanyo. They have also heavily invested in microchip ventures etc. Pentax have been a decent size company for what they specialize in and very independent. I would not marginalize them, although I am in no way defending their image or anything (I'll do that if they pay me ;-). Anyway, they had the least impact on their bottom line caused by digicam bubble burst, and hope they will continue their way (but give us the upgrades soon, right? :-). Cheers, Ken
